A Small Practice, Deliberately So
Saujana Group has worked with senior teams in Malaysia's Cyberjaya–Putrajaya corridor since 2017, on the questions they find themselves coming back to season after season.
← Return to HomeHow the Practice Began
Saujana Group grew out of a simple observation made in 2017: that many well-run businesses in Cyberjaya were spending significant time managing external consultants whose primary interest was in securing the next phase of engagement, rather than in the quality of the thinking being done. The founders — who had each spent more than a decade working inside and alongside Malaysian companies — set out to offer something with a different structure.
The practice was kept small by design. We work with a limited number of clients at any given time, which allows each engagement to receive the attention it warrants. We do not subcontract work and we do not hand engagements to junior staff after terms are agreed. The advisor who takes on an assignment sees it through.
Our focus has remained on three kinds of work that senior teams in this corridor consistently find useful: a regular outside reading of strategic questions through the Quarterly Practice Briefing; a structured look at operational tooling through the Digital Operations Diagnostic; and a longer-form examination of how technology shifts are changing the commercial model of a given business.
We think of our role as a considered counterpart — someone who has read widely, thinks carefully, and has no product to sell beyond the quality of the analysis.
The name Saujana — which in Malay speaks to a wide, open view — reflects the kind of perspective we try to bring. Not the view from inside the building, but the longer view that becomes possible when you step outside it for a moment.

The People Involved
Ahmad Zulkifli
Principal Advisor
Fifteen years working with and inside Malaysian companies on strategy, operations, and the structural questions that tend to recur in growing firms. Leads all senior engagements at the practice.
Nurul Rashidah
Senior Associate, Digital Operations
Focuses on the operational diagnostics work — mapping tooling landscapes, running conversations with systems users, and preparing the written assessments that form the core of our diagnostic engagements.
Tan Hui Ling
Research & Analysis
Responsible for the background reading, sector analysis, and written preparation that underpins our advisory outputs. Brings a particular focus on the regional technology landscape affecting Malaysian firms.
Our Professional Standards
The following reflects how we structure our work and what we hold ourselves to across every engagement.
Mutual Confidentiality
All formal engagements include a mutual confidentiality agreement. We do not share client information, discussions, or outputs with any third party without explicit agreement.
Independence of Advice
We do not hold commercial relationships with technology vendors or implementation partners. This keeps our analysis free from the conflicts that can arise when advisors earn commissions from recommended suppliers.
Written Deliverables
Every engagement produces a written output. Verbal presentations are supplementary; the document is the primary deliverable — something that can be read, shared, and returned to over time.
Principal-Led Engagements
The advisor who agrees terms with a client conducts the engagement. Work is not passed to junior staff or subcontracted. What you are offered in the initial discussion is what you receive.
Clear Timeframes
Each service has a defined duration and a clear set of deliverables. We do not extend engagements without agreement, and we do not create structures that require ongoing retainers beyond what was agreed at the outset.
Scope Discipline
We are careful about what we agree to and realistic about what falls within our competence. Where a question is better addressed by a specialist in a different field, we say so rather than attempting to fill the space.
Business Advisory in the Cyberjaya Corridor
The Cyberjaya–Putrajaya corridor occupies a particular position in Malaysia's commercial landscape — a cluster of companies that are by turns technology firms, government-adjacent service providers, and regionally-oriented businesses, many of which are navigating the same broad shift toward software-led operating models.
Our practice has been built around this context. The questions we work on — about operational structure, about business model resilience, about the relationship between internal capability and external tooling — are ones that arise with some regularity in firms of this profile.
We work in English and Bahasa Malaysia, and our understanding of how decisions are made inside Malaysian companies — of the organisational rhythms, the governance considerations, and the particular sensitivities that attend senior conversations — is part of what we bring to each engagement.
What We Are Not
We are not a large consultancy with a methodology to sell. We do not produce slide decks padded with framework diagrams. We do not require multi-year retainers or offer tiered subscription packages. We are a small practice that does a limited number of things carefully.
The Clients We Work With Best
We tend to work well with firms that already have strong internal teams and are looking for a thoughtful outside perspective — not a replacement for internal thinking, but a complement to it. Companies where the leadership reads, reflects, and is genuinely uncertain about some of the questions they are facing.
